Update from Camp

May

We re-opened camp on the 29th of May. The rains are over and the ranch is looking lush and green. Lots of plains game is attracted by the water in the dams and the nice fresh grass. Herds of gazelle, bufallo, wildebeest, elephants and many more are seen all over the ranch. The birdlife is amazing!

April

Our official Manyara Ranch Mammal & Bird List has been finalized and is now available to clients staying at the Ranch. The bird list includes 316 species of birds and 52 species of mammals

Manyara Ranch Conservancy would like to wish you a Happy New Year. We kick off 2012 with a very green Conservancy as a result of the amazing December rains. Birdlife activity has been great, with all bishops in full breeding plumage. Other species have joined the bandwagon, busy building their nests for new arrivals.
Large herds of breeding elephants have arrived with plenty of young calves in toe. The lions have spread themselves across the Conservancy, with a giraffe recently falling victim to their dinner plans. While the lion cubs are growing up and looking very healthy, the long grass has made them more elusive. The balmy nights have provided lovely nocturnal sightings including striped and spotted hyenas, aardwolf and flap-necked chameleons. Manyara Ranch Conservancy would like to wish you a Happy New Year. In camp, clients have enjoyed the company of a family of banded mongoose carrying their young back and forth to a nearby termite mound. Morning coffee has frequently been accompanied by scenes of giraffe crossing the plains in front of camp, a wonderful selection of birds in the birdbath and striped squirrels at breakfast time.
